Plant Structure: Cytology, Morphology & Anatomy

Cytology involves the study of cells, especially their structure and appearance. Plant Cytology dates was discovered for the first time by Robert Hooke who first studied the internal structure of a thin slice of cork using a microscope he improved by himself. Plant morphology or phytomorphology is the study of the physical form and external structure of plants. This is usually considered distinct from plant anatomy, which is the study of the internal structure of plants, especially at the microscopic level. The respective session of Plant Science Conference deals with the following fields.

  • Phytomorphology and development
  • Phytoanatomy
  • Growth habits in plants
  • Pollination and fertilization
  • Vegetative propagation
  • Plant cell cycle and cell division
