Session Tracks

Session on: Plant biology

Plant biology is defined as the science of plants. It is the study of plant growth, reproduction, evolution, and adaptation, as well as the use of plants for food, fibre, and ornamental purposes. We will discuss how the plants able to tolerate the heat and drought stress caused by climate change and by developing sustainable cropping practices to produce healthful and nutritious food. Thereby restoring damaged ecosystems to better support for living. Conserving species, through plant collections in gardens and arboretums, for future generations.

Plant Biotechnology:

Plant biotechnology involves a variety of techniques that are used in plants for specific purposes and to provide sustainable food and good nutritional support. By changing the genome and the specific traits of the plant species are discovered that are disease resistant, drought-resistant plants that will survive in any environmental conditions. Numerous research works have been conducting to find out the specific genes and the genetic engineering principle are gene-editing molecular markers have been involved in creating a specific trait. The researchers will select the specific genes in genetic resources and transfer genes for specific traits into plants which they are needed.

 Plant Nutrition and Soil Sciences:

Plant Nutrition is very essential for plant growth, metabolism and external supply. The essential plant nutrients are carbon, hydrogen and oxygen that is absorbed from the air and other nutrients such as nitrogen are absorbed from the soil. There are two types of nutrients such as macronutrients and micronutrients.

Soil Sciences: It is the study of soil that includes soil formation, mapping, classification and fertility property of soil is studied. Soil scientists work in preserving soil and protect land for the future generation. The two main branches of soil science that includes pedology and edaphology. Pedology is the study of soil from its natural surface such as earths crust. The edaphology is the study of soil for its dependent uses. It includes soil physics, soil chemistry and soil biology. Soil research studies include Climate change, greenhouse gas effect, carbon sequestration.

Market Analysis

Market analysis:

Plant science involves the selection and improvement of crops. The global population would be facing challenges to make sure adequate crop production to meet growing food demands. Climate change is also one of the threats facing global food security. It may adversely affect the crops, forestry, livestock and aquaculture productivity. Plant biotechnology delivers to enhance the overall yield and crop productivity for sustainable developmental goals. According to the world agricultural plant biotechnology research, the market was approximately USD 32.89 billion in 2018 and it is expected to be around USD of 67.01 billion by 2025 and CAGR of around 10.7% between 2019 and 2025.

Market Research in the Netherlands:

The Netherlands facing the destruction of the environment, threatening, flooding and climate shift that are harmful to human habitation. The level of emission is increased and leads to the risk of global warming, ecological calamity and sea-level rise. The Dutch agricultural sector employs 4% of the labour force for producing large surpluses in the food processing industry. Thus, meeting the demands the overall food production should increase by applying plant biotechnology and genetic engineered plants for better quality and overall production to prevent food insecurity. There are four hundred companies are active in the Netherlands which was about 124 that are dedicated Life Science companies and about 30 diversified Life Sciences companies and about 300 followers of Life Science. In 2001 the group of dedicated Life Sciences companies produced the turnover of almost 120 million of about 2.400 employees. Pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals companies also account for more than 70% of which was about 60% are in R&D.

Market Research in Amsterdam:

The development of sustainable goals for crop production and biodiversity, combining studies on pathogen and pest resistance, plant adaptation, ecological genomics, natural selection, stress physiology and plant development. The Netherlands has become an agricultural sector that producing the future of farming. The global average potatoes yield of about per acre is nine tons. A sea of greenhouse in agricultural innovation, pioneering new pathways to fight hunger. Numerous automation of plant metabolomics are analysed by the NMR and MS for genetically modified crops. Some of the farming innovations that are practised such as Sustainable bananas from greenhouses, Using Food waste for feeding farm animals and there is a floating farmin Rotterdam.
