Kingdom of Fungi

Kingdom of Fungi

This track embarks on an exploration of Fungi, a diverse group of eukaryotic organisms that inhabit plants, animals, as well as decomposing organic matter. Lacking chlorophyll, fungi derive their nourishment from the substrates they inhabit. Within this kingdom, distinct types of fungi, such as yeast, slime molds, and mushrooms, showcase remarkable diversity.

Fungi are broadly categorized into four divisions: Chytridiomycota, Zygomycota, Ascomycota, and Basidiomycota, each contributing to various economic endeavors around the world. Fungi find multifaceted applications, serving as sources of sustenance, pivotal ingredients in brewing industries for the production of wine and beer, key components in food industries, and contributing to the realms of fertilizers and medicinal compounds.
