Plant Phytochemical Analysis

Plant Phytochemical Analysis

Within plants, a range of natural phytochemicals like flavonoids, alkaloids, lipids, phenolic compounds, tannins, and carotenoids are present. These plant-derived phytochemicals can be effectively assessed through both qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches. The process encompasses stages such as sample collection, purification, extraction, sonication, screening, and the subsequent identification of active components within the plant. Notably, phytochemicals discovered in fruits and vegetables have demonstrated the potential to lower the risk of cancer due to the presence of dietary fibers, polyphenol antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties. Many of these phytochemical compounds also contribute to the development of medicinal drugs.

Integral components of this domain encompass the meticulous application of laboratory methodologies, in-depth phytochemical investigations, and the exploration of industrial applications. Furthermore, the role of plant hormones and the utilization of phytochemicals in addressing various health concerns form additional noteworthy aspects of study.
