Algae

Algae

This track delves into the realm of Algae, encompassing a diverse and expansive group of aquatic organisms that engage in photosynthesis. Flourishing abundantly in rivers, ponds, lakes, and moisture-laden regions, algae manifest in two distinct forms: Microalgae and Macroalgae (commonly known as Seaweeds). Microalgae thrive within sterile environments and are discernible only through microscopic observation, while macroalgae can be extensively cultivated in open surroundings.

Algae are broadly categorized into multiple divisions, including Chlorophyta, Xanthophyta, Bacillariophyta, Phaeophyta, Rhodophyta, and more. These organisms hold considerable economic significance, with global cultivation efforts. Algae serve as a versatile resource, finding applications as edible supplements, ingredients for culinary creations like cookies and juices, and even medicinal purposes. They play a role in producing items such as agar, liquid fertilizers, and more.
